Physical Therapy
A physical therapist (PT) seeks to restore function or prevent disability or further disability in the mobility o a client following an injury or an illness. The PT uses various techniques to treat client including massage, heat, cold, water, sonar waves, exercises, and electricity. Most PTs are also educated in the use of psychological strategies to motivate clients.
To become a physical therapist, the individual must complete four years of college and obtain a baccalaureate degree in physical therapy. A state licensing examination must also be passed. In some areas a collage graduate with a degree in another area may enroll in a 6- to 12-month certificate program to become a candidate for taking the state licensing examination for PTs.
